The latest release of Cognos Analytics boasts a variety of new features and is the final release in the 11.1 stream, making it the Long Term Support version. Significant changes have been made to the reporting, dashboarding and modelling capabilities, meaning analysing and distributing your data is now even simpler!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are some of the highlights of the new and changed features in this version:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Look and Feel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Cognos Analytics\u2019 interface has been updated to reflect the Carbon Design System used by IBM throughout many of their products\/systems. This includes changes to icons, fonts and the general layout of the tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Learn Pane<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Learn Pane is a new slide-out pane and accessed via the question mark icon in the top right corner. This content is context-sensitive that displays information relevant to the area of Cognos that is currently being used. For example, when building a report and accessing the learn pane, it would provide information about building reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Scheduling Interface<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The scheduling interface design has been changed to bring it in line with the rest of the Cognos interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Reporting Interface<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The new navigation menu simplifies switching between different areas when building a report. The Data, Toolbox, Pages and Queries buttons have been removed from the left navigation bar and have been placed in more logical positions. You can now easily switch between pages and queries, create new objects, and access additional properties of the report, with a few simple clicks using the new navigation menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

New Visualisations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
New visualisations are available that are unique to 11.1. They are client-side JavaScript visualisations, and can be filtered within the object without the report needing to be refreshed. Many of them are HTML only, so are not applicable if the desired output is going to be PDF or Excel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Custom Colour Palettes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Custom colour palettes can now be created to utilise within the new 11.1 visualisations. These are specific to the user who originally creates them, but global palettes can be set up by the administrator for all report authors to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
