Routing and Scheduling
Enterprise Transport Management has successfully
interfaced to a number of Route Optimising solutions, and to date these include:-
- Paragon
- Truckstops
- DPS
- MTM (Manugistics)
Orders are fed into these systems and the Visual Planner (ESP) then accepts their suggested
plans of activity. Orders are automatically presented on the Gantt Planning screen either
- in the grouped order well if a resource hasn’t been allocated
- or directly onto the Gantt if it has been allocated a resource.
The method that the Route Optimising solutions use to create their plans can vary and will be
dependant on rules that you have defined. The rules can be as simple or complex as required, and
are based on the number of constraints you wish to build into the matrix.
For example these rules can be order driven, contract or generally business driven and variations can
include:-
- Optimum route for a small batch of orders or specific contract
- Best route to achieve maximum utilisation of the fleet
- Optimum route at minimal cost
These can still be changed once the planned activity is fed back to ESP.
Routing and Scheduling Summary:-
- Helps to achieve efficient use of the fleet
- Tries to reduce cost whilst maximising on revenue
- Rules can be specified by pool of jobs, area, contract etc.
- Helps to automate the planning process
